I'm reading another book called “The World is Flat.” That doesn't mean this world is flat geographically or literally. It means that the playing field has flattened throughout the world and people in Swain County , and throughout Western North Carolina , must consider what effect technology and modern things are having on the world. I am pro-responsible forestry (logging with planting of new trees, etc…)
Please no mountain bikes on the same trails as hikers. Please keep mountain bikes out of sight, out of mind. They are not only destructive to the environment, but also destructive to the wonderful silence/sounds of the forests, and related religious/spiritual/wellbeing a hiker feels in the forest. The reasons hikers go to the forest. Mountain bikes in the forest are nothing but destructive.
I would like to make a statement that the NPS when making their decision to remember all the volunteer hours that is spent on NPS land.
Most people, when they lose a lawsuit, admit they lost and go on to something new. There is no way to know whether the speakers claiming rights based on promises knew of this court decision. They know now. The time has come to drop that failed argument and move on.
We need to develop these forgotten, unused areas in order to extract the natural resources we need so badly.
