OPPOSE BUILD ALTERNATIVES

<Back

I do not want roads cut into the GSMNP. Preserve our natural resources--our irreplaceable parks. If the money is burning a hole in the Feds' pockets, let them put it toward incentives to buy and use smaller cars, less gas fuel for those cars, and more incentives to recycle everything possible. NO ROADS in our national park.

I am against any alternative that involves earthwork because of the resulting permanent and irreversible impact to the environment. I am not philosophically opposed to a monetary settlement, though I am also an advocate of the "no action" alternative.

I am strongly opposed to the completion of the North Shore Road. Neither do I support any compromise that would encourage development along the south shore of the lake. The park is under intense development along its entire perimeter.

After reading the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, I saw that just about every one of the attributes of the park was impaired, was impacted. All these attributes of the park would receive impacts, if any road-building takes place.

We should be considering closing roads in national parks, not building new ones.

People have plenty of access to the park. Imagine if they wanted to they could even get out of their cars and walk through it. If this project is so opposed, why has it gotten even this far? Sounds like a really stupid idea.
