4. Do you have any suggestions on improving the screening criteria? If so, please explain.

Some people feel that the environmental screening process needs to be more detailed to reflect the serious impacts caused by construction. They comment that since natural resources have so many components, separate strategies need to be developed to adequately answer all questions within a limited time frame. Others comment that environmental data collection needs several years for a proper study. People suggest including more information on the effects of forest fragmentation on animal and plant populations.

Commenters state that the geology section needs to include additional soils, serpentine, and asbestos, and to study environmental fragmentation, siltation in streams, and water-table effects from pollutants entering the ground, groundwater, and Fontana Lake . People also comment that air quality needs more discussion regarding pollution caused by increased traffic.
