| DRAFT TRANSPORTATION CONFORMITY ANALYSIS REPORT
<Back to Documents
A Transportation Conformity Analysis was prepared for the North Shore Road project as required by the Clean Air Act of 1977, as amended in 1990. The draft conformity report has details about the proposed North Shore Road air quality emissions for each of the horizon years in the Swain County portion of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The North Shore Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) currently describes five alternatives that are under consideration. The No-Action and the Monetary Settlement alternatives would not require a Transportation Conformity Determination and the Laurel Branch Picnic Area and non-road construction portion of the Partial-Build Alternative to Bushnell may require preparation of a General Conformity Determination. Regional Emissions Analyses (REA) were performed on only two of the combinations of build alternatives and should in no way imply preference for either of these alternatives nor reduce or increase the consideration for any of the five main DEIS listed alternatives (or combinations of alternatives).
